Systropus Beefly

Systropus macer Order Diptera; Family Bombyliidae.

One of Ontario’s most striking bee fly, Systropus macer can be commonly seen feeding on golden rod around the station. Their thin and elongate abdomens resembles that of Ammophila a Sphecid wasp that hunts caterpillars.
